Dyanna New York Skin Care
While the décor’s not much to look at—apricot walls, art-deco prints, and mirrored accents circa the late-eighties—regulars swear by this neighborhood mini-spa’s quick and virtually painless bikini waxes. Operated by a group of no-nonsense Russian ladies (you’ll catch the language flying about readily during treatments), Dyanna offers reasonably priced manicures, facials, and glycolic peels too, but it’s the Brazilian wax (priced at about a third of the going rate) that keeps devotees returning. Walk-ins are welcome with weekday afternoons quite slow; still, appointments are recommended for peak times like Thursday and Friday post-work and Saturday afternoons. The treatment rooms are tiny, the service is efficient: You’ll be in and out in time for happy hour. — Carolyn Murnick
